A dachshund has broken the hearts of viewers on social media after being captured standing upright on a chair, with her eyes fixed on the front window while waiting patiently for her owner to get home from work.

The short TikTok clip was posted on March 21 by the dog’s owner under @danianddelilahxo, and has since been viewed more than 121,000 times, earning over 17,000 likes along with a flood of heartfelt reactions. The footage shows Delilah, a tan, shorthaired dachshund, standing on her hind legs atop a chair positioned near a window, facing both the glass and the front door. Her posture is alert and focused, as if she is watching for any sign that her owner might be coming home.

Overlaid text on the video explains the scene, “I started a new job and my dog literally spends the whole day looking out the window waiting for me to come back,” while the post was simply captioned: “My Delilah bug.”

The moving moment played against an emotional ballad, underscoring the sense of longing viewers on the platform immediately picked up on.

According to the TikTok account’s bio, Delilah and her owner are based in California. While the clip itself is brief, the reaction it sparked was expansive. Viewers quickly filled the comment section with advice, jokes and emotional confessions.

“My lil guy does too. Doesn’t matter what time I get home he is in the window,” one viewer said. “Maybe make him a little window seat and open the curtain a lil. I got this lil couch off marketplace for $25.”

Others leaned into humor, suggesting drastic solutions to Delilah’s apparent heartbreak.

“I called and put your 2 weeks in for you,” one viewer joked, while another added: “If you don’t quit your job right now….”

Several commenters suggested the pup might benefit from companionship.

“Your dog needs a dog,” one wrote, prompting similar responses like “GET HIM A FRIEND NOW” and “Your dog needs a dog sibling. Dogs are better together.”

“I’d be crying at work,” another viewer said. “Buy that baby a bed at the window to lay down.”

As concern mounted, the dog’s owner offered reassurance in the comments section. She shared an update alongside an image of Delilah snuggled into her neck, writing: “GUYS IM WORKING FROM HOME TODAY DONT WORRY SHES NOT LEAVING MY SIDE.”

The most recently shared image aligns closely with what many dachshund owners know well. The breed is famously loyal and prone to forming intense attachments, often bonding strongly with one person in the household. That devotion can show up as clingy behavior, particularly when routines shift or a favored human is suddenly absent for much of the day.
