A solemn-looking golden retriever has melted the hearts of viewers on social media after a video showing him seemingly “in his feels” while listening to a Gracie Abrams breakup song went viral, amassing more than 1.1 million views since earlier this month.

The short TikTok clip was shared on March 19 by the dog’s owner under @annashealyofficial and has since racked up over 290,000 likes and a flood of amused and affectionate comments from viewers who say the golden’s expression feels a little too relatable.

In the video, the golden retriever appears moved and mournful as Abrams’ breakup song “I Love You, I’m Sorry” plays in the background. The alignment between the emotional lyrics of the Gen Z breakup anthem and the dog’s drooping posture is precisely what has amused viewers, making it seem as if the canine is quietly processing heartbreak of his own.

An overlaid text on the video reads, “Grace [Abrams] really got him in his feels on the drive home today,” while the caption adds: “It was a long day at work to be fair.”

The humor lies in how convincingly the dog appears to be matching the mood of the song. With his head bowed and gaze fixed, the golden retriever looks less like a pet on a routine car ride and more like a main character in a melancholy music video. That framing resonated immediately with viewers on TikTok, many of whom left lighthearted comments under the post.

“I don’t know man. What if I’m not a good boy?” one viewer commented, capturing what many interpreted as the golden retriever’s internal crisis.

Another added: “He’s probably making up a scenario in his head about you getting a new dog and forgetting about him.”

Others leaned into the theatricality of the moment.

“Me pretending to be in a sad music video,” one comment read, while another added: “He needed this.”

“What dog park romance is this [little] guy thinking about,” a third viewer joked.

Golden retrievers, known for their expressive faces and gentle demeanor, often become ideal candidates for this kind of viral humor. In this case, the dog’s weary posture and downcast eyes made the illusion especially convincing.
