Back in 2021, right-hander Trevor Bauer was one of the top pitchers in Major League Baseball. He had just signed a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and was the reigning National League Cy Young winner.

However, things took a turn when Bauer was accused of sexual assault. He was placed on paid administrative leave and did not pitch for the rest of the 2021 season. He was subsequently suspended for the 2022 and 2023 seasons and has not pitched in the majors since then.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Bauer has signed a new contract with a team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

“Trevor Bauer signs with Long Island Ducks,” Heyman posted Thursday on X.

Bauer was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the third pick in the 2011 MLB draft. After making his major league debut in Arizona in 2012, the right-hander pitched parts of seven seasons with the Cleveland Guardians before joining the Cincinnati Reds.

Bauer was barely into the first year of his contract with Los Angeles when the allegations came to light. Bauer has since served his suspension and was even reinstated by MLB, but no team ever offered him a contract.

His MLB career is more than likely over, but he will reportedly have a chance to keep pitching in the Atlantic League. It will be interesting to see how he fares with the Ducks.
