Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's daughter has long since stopped bearing her father's surname.

On Page Six on July 29 (local time), an exclusive source revealed that actress Katie Holmes was not surprised by her daughter Suri's (20 years old) decision to drop her father Tom Cruise's "Cruise" surname because "that's just who Suri is." The source revealed: "She has always been very independent and confident in making her own choices. This wasn't a decision made overnight. It was a long process of reflection, and Katie respected Suri's journey and decisions every step of the way."
According to the source, Katie Holmes believes her daughter is mature enough to make the decision and fully supports whatever Suri feels is right for herself. The source also emphasized that the Dawson's Creek star did not pressure her daughter to drop her father's surname; this is entirely Suri's own decision.
A source added: "Katie has spent years raising Suri in a way that teaches her to think for herself and be herself. She is incredibly proud of the confident and independent young woman Suri has grown into. Now that Suri is an adult, Katie believes that such personal decisions are her right." The 47-year-old actress reportedly always wants her daughter to be happy and live the life she chooses.
Katie Holmes's side has not yet commented on Suri dropping her father's surname.

Public voter registration records in Pennsylvania, where Suri is attending Carnegie Mellon University, show her legal name is now Suri Noelle.
This page states that although the name change only recently became public knowledge, Suri had actually been using the new name in public appearances for some time. At her high school graduation event in June 2024, her name was recorded as Suri Noelle.
