According to THACO AUTO, Vietnam is the first market in Southeast Asia to launch the new generation (3rd generation) Peugeot 3008 and 5008. This is considered an important step in Peugeot's long-term development strategy in Vietnam, amidst increasingly fierce competition in the SUV and crossover segment.
The most noticeable change on the new generation Peugeot models lies in their design. The 3008, in particular, has undergone a near-complete transformation, adopting a coupe-SUV hybrid style with a low-sloping roofline and incorporating more aerodynamic details than before.

Peugeot retains familiar features such as the LED headlights that mimic "lion's claws," but with a more modern and sharper presentation. The front end uses a body-colored grille, creating a seamless effect instead of the traditional split design. New identifying details such as the "PEUGEOT" lettering, the car name, and the new "lion's shield" logo give the overall appearance a more youthful and modern look than the previous generation.
According to the manufacturer, the new generation Peugeot 3008 won the 2024 Red Dot Award in the Product Design category. It is also one of the models that Peugeot has high expectations for during its transition to a new design language.
Beyond just exterior changes, the cockpit is also a heavily invested area for Peugeot's new generation SUV duo. The French automaker has adopted the Panoramic i-Cockpit design philosophy, an upgraded version of the i-Cockpit design philosophy that has been associated with the brand for over a decade. The highlight is the 21-inch curved Panoramic screen mounted prominently in front of the driver. This design combines the digital instrument panel and the central infotainment screen in a single display cluster, creating a significantly more modern feel compared to the previous generation.
The car's interior has also been revamped with a more minimalist and technologically advanced design.

Furthermore, Peugeot continues to maintain its signature small D-Cut steering wheel, along with an e-Toggle electronic gear selector and i-Toggles touch-sensitive buttons that allow for quick customization of frequently used functions. The car supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The interior of the new Peugeot 3008 focuses more on a premium experience with Nappa leather seats, Ambient interior lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10-speaker Focal Premium Hi-Fi sound system. The front seats feature power adjustment, massage, heating, ventilation, and memory functions, depending on the version.
Unlike the 3008, which targets customers who appreciate a sporty and distinctive style, the new generation Peugeot 5008 continues to be positioned as a 7-seater SUV/crossover for families. Therefore, it has larger dimensions with a wheelbase of up to 2,900 mm, optimizing interior space for a 7-seat configuration. The overall design of this model retains a more robust and angular style to emphasize practicality.
The Peugeot 5008's cabin retains the Panoramic i-Cockpit design and 21-inch curved screen similar to its smaller sibling, but is enhanced with numerous amenities to cater to family needs. The second row seats feature individual heating and sunshades, while the 3-zone automatic climate control improves the experience for rear passengers. A notable feature of the Peugeot 5008 is its customizable space. The second row seats can be folded in a 40:20:40 ratio, while the third row folds 50:50, expanding the luggage compartment capacity to 2,232 liters when needed.
Unlike their predecessors, the new generation Peugeot 3008 and 5008 will both switch to using the STLA Medium platform developed by parent company Stellantis.

Notably, in addition to design and interior changes, Peugeot's new SUV duo also features an upgraded powertrain. Specifically, the new generation Peugeot 3008 and 5008 share the STLA Medium platform developed by Stellantis. This platform is optimized to increase body rigidity, reduce weight, and improve sound insulation. It comes with a 1.6-liter Turbo PureTech engine, tuned to deliver 180 horsepower and 300 Nm of maximum torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The French automaker has also added many modern driver assistance technologies such as a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, active safety braking, blind spot warning, and traffic sign recognition.
The arrival of the new generation Peugeot 3008 and 5008 demonstrates the French car brand's efforts to refresh its image in Vietnam after a period of stagnation. Instead of competing solely on European design as before, Peugeot now wants to emphasize technological experience, interior space, and premium features in its new SUV models.
The pricing for the new generation Peugeot SUV duo will be announced by THACO AUTO at the end of May 2026.
