Before appearing in showrooms, the new generation BMW M2 was spotted at an emissions testing center in Hanoi. According to information from the dealership, the model will be distributed with a configuration similar to the international market, targeting customers who appreciate sporty driving feel and high-performance coupes.
Compared to its predecessor, the new M2 retains the compact two-door coupe styling but is larger in size. Measuring 4,580 x 1,887 x 1,403 mm (length x width x height) and with a wheelbase of 2,747 mm, it offers more spaciousness despite remaining the smallest model in the BMW M family.
The exterior design of the new generation BMW M2 is developed in its own unique style, rather than following the design of the M3 or M4. The front end stands out with a small, frameless grille, combined with a front bumper featuring rectangular air intakes to improve engine and brake cooling efficiency. The rear of the car is highlighted by a quad exhaust system, a small spoiler on the trunk lid, and a sporty diffuser.
The car uses M 930 wheels, measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear, paired with high-performance tires in sizes 275/35R19 and 285/30R20. This configuration contributes to improved traction and control at high speeds.
The cockpit is designed in the distinctive BMW M style with a curved screen integrating the BMW Operating System 8.5. The car on display at the dealership is also equipped with M Carbon Bucket seats upholstered in Alcantara and Sensatec, numerous carbon fiber trim details, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, interior ambient lighting, an M steering wheel, a rearview camera, front and rear sensors, and parking assist features.
Powering the new generation BMW M2 is a 3.0L TwinPower Turbo S58 inline 6-cylinder engine, delivering a maximum output of 480 horsepower and a peak torque of 600 Nm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Supporting its performance are the Adaptive M suspension system, M Sport differential, high-performance brakes, and M Drive Professional mode.
With a starting price of 4.099 billion VND, the new generation M2 is in the high-performance coupe segment with a price comparable to the Porsche 718 Cayman in Vietnam. However, this is only the price for the standard version and does not include personalization options. After adding equipment packages and registration fees, the total cost to own this sports car could significantly exceed 4.1 billion VND.
